MId-Term elections!

Well, everyone, Tuesday night we had our totals for the mid-term elections. As it turns out, even though I voted Republican for the House and Senate, the Democrats now, by a close call, are the majority for both. Now, being that our president is Republican, he will have to fight harder for his views and the House and Senate now can easily veto his commands. Considering the war, it is possible that major changes may occur. It was the president and the Republican's votes that kept this war going on as long as it has. Now that the president has some competition in power it is entirely possible the war may come to some sort of conclusion.

At the very least we may be able to pull some of our many troops out of Iraq and back home. Maybe now we can focus more on our own country instead of worrying so much about everyone else. We learned from out mistakes in the past, yet we cannot let other countries learn from theirs? No, apparently we must create more mistakes that WE will learn from, while other countries will continue to go on un-aware and will oppose us without being educated. At least we will have both sides of the story instead of the government being one-sided.

An article from cnn.com talks about how, though the majority IS democrat, the president and the houses will try to cooperate and not roll over each other. I do not think this will work, because it is in a person's nature to fight for what he or she believes in, and I have a strong feeling that there will be many fights. Maybe these fights won't be physical, but strongly political.

And, from what I'd heard, the president had passed and changed documents after it had gone pass the House and Senate, or after it had been veto'd by them. I don't know if this is true, but if it is, the fact that the democrats now have the majority 51 votes in the House and Senate, they may be able to halt future instances of this, or at least fight against them.
